WeCare sustainability

We are continually working to develop and improve our environmental efforts, and we always choose solutions that consider both people and nature to the best of our ability. As part of Nordic Hotels & Resorts and Strawberry, we are proud to contribute to the initiative WeCare, which is about taking responsibility together.

Through WeCare, we focus on diversity and inclusion among our employees, ethical and sustainable trade in the supply chain, social engagement in the local community, as well as the environment and healthy, sustainable food. We are also part of Hållbarhetsklivet, a joint initiative in Western Sweden working for a more sustainable tourism.

How you can contribute as a guest

Avoid throwing glass, metal cans, and plastic bottles in the trash can. Instead, place them beside it, and we will ensure they are sorted correctly.
Please hang up the towel if you wish to use it again. That way we know it does not need to be changed.
Turn off the lights when you are not in the room.
Close the window and balcony door before you check out.
Unplug your mobile and computer when they are fully charged.
Please inform the reception the day before if you want cleaning. Together we can help save water, energy, chemicals, and cleaning agents.

Our sustainability initiatives

We work every day to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future, from how we heat our rooms to what we serve on the plate.

Energy and resources

We heat the entire hotel and all pools with seawater heat, a natural and local energy source.
All electricity we use is fossil-free.
When we replace lighting, we always choose energy-efficient LED bulbs.
We encourage our employees to travel collectively or carpool to meetings to reduce emissions.
To limit the amount of laundry, spa guests can pick up bathrobes and towels in the Spa Shop.

Food and drinks

We prioritize local producers and ingredients.
We weigh our food waste and share the results internally to reduce food waste.
We purchase natural wine, as well as organic, biodynamic, and fair trade certified wine.
Our beer is organic, comes from Carlsberg, and is transported by tanker to reduce transport volume.
Our coffee is fair trade certified to ensure good conditions for the producers.
Most of the dairy products we use are organic, and we always serve organic eggs.

Waste and materials

We sort waste such as hard plastics, metals, glass, office paper, food waste, porcelain, and combustible materials.
We are phasing out single-use plastics in favor of natural materials or solutions that can be used multiple times.
We register hazardous liquids at the hotel and handle them in accordance with current recommendations.
We actively participate in beach clean-ups in the local area to take care of the sea and the coast.

Good neighbor – Clean sea

We at Strømstad Spa & Resort are proud to be the initiator of Good Neighbour – Clean Sea, a project that highlights cooperation, care, and responsibility along the coast. We believe that good things happen when people, nature, and businesses meet with a common goal of taking care of the place we share.

Through the initiative, we collaborate with local actors, clean beaches, support sustainable measures, and invite activities that strengthen both the community and the marine environment. Our ambition is to contribute to small but important ripple effects for people, nature, and future generations.

Lonely Christmas Tree

A lonely Christmas tree is a project in collaboration with local organizations, where we collect Christmas gifts for families and children who need a little extra support during the pre-Christmas season.
