Nötholmen Nature Reserve

Just 50 meters from the hotel lies the beautiful Nötholmen Nature Reserve, a favourite destination for many of our guests. The landscape shifts between smooth cliffs, pine forest, and limestone-influenced mixed woodland with small wetland areas. Along the shoreline, narrow beach meadows stretch out between rocks and skerries. The plant life is rich, and here you can find the boreal lime tree – a rare species found in only a few other places.

The island invites peaceful walks, jogs with the sea breeze in your face, and sheltered spots for salty swims in the ocean. There are about three kilometres of paths winding through varied terrain with forest and beach. You’ll also find accessible trails suitable for wheelchairs, as well as paths that follow the coastline closely down to the water.

On Nötholmen, there are two marked rest areas: in the western part you’ll find a wind shelter with grilling facilities, while the eastern rest area is simpler – but here too you are welcome to light a fire. In the eastern part of the island, you can also discover remains from Karl XII’s siege of Norway.

We highly recommend that all our guests experience the nature of Nötholmen up close.
