The Historical Blomsholm

For nearly 2,000 years, the Blomsholm ship, which is Bohuslän's largest stone circle and one of Sweden's largest ship settings in the area, has "sailed" over the meadows.

From the road, you can already see the impressive ship setting that is over 40 meters long and consists of 49 stones.

There are also 7 burial fields from the Iron Age and the large mound Grönehög in the area. A signposted cultural trail begins at the parking lot and takes you through the area.

Just north of Strömstad lies Blomsholm Manor. Here you will find Bohuslän's largest ship setting and largest stone circle, as well as several other graves. To the south lies Bohuslän's largest burial mound, Grönehög. The ancient monuments and the entire cultural landscape illustrate the grandeur of the place and its regional significance.

The ancient monuments mainly belong to the Iron Age with a focus on the period 200 - 600 AD. At this time, the impressive graves in the Blomsholm area were strategically located at the intersection of two inner waterways: a north-south route from Hogdal/Dynekilen down to Skee and an east-west route through Strömsvattnet.
