The Historical Blomsholm

For over 1,500 years, the Blomsholm Ship – one of Sweden's largest ship settings – has been "sailing" over the meadows in the area. Already from the road, you can see the impressive stone setting that is over 40 meters long and consists of 49 tall stones.

Just north of Strömstad lies Blomsholm's estate and its majestic cultural landscape. Here, in addition to the ship setting, you will also find Bohuslän’s largest stone circle, seven burial fields from the Iron Age, and the large mound Grönehög. The ancient remains illustrate the historical significance of the site and are predominantly dated to the period 200–600 AD, when the area was strategically located by two inner waterways.
